Iran Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence of the Iranian opponent accused by Tehran of acting as an agent of France.

Iran’s Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence of Rouhollah Zam, director of the website Amadnews, for inciting protests against the regime in the country at the end of 2017, the Iranian judiciary reported on December 8th.  The judicial spokesman, Gholamhosein Esmaili, announced in a press conference that the Supreme Court examined the case and approved the ruling issued in the first instance by a revolutionary court. “More than a month ago, the Supreme Court ruled on his case and the verdict of the revolutionary court was confirmed,” Gholamhossein Esmaili said without further details in a press conference broadcast on the internet.

The channel was blocked by Iran, which accused the activist and journalist of inciting violence and of being “a tool in the hands of foreign spy services against Iran, according to Efe.

Rouhollah Zam

The judicial spokesman explained in June that 13 of the accusations against the dissident activist had been considered by the court as “corruption on earth”.  This is the name given in Iran to the most serious charges such as murder, terrorism and taking up arms against the state, which Islamic jurisprudence usually punishes by hanging.

Zam, who had refugee status in France, was convicted of playing an active role in the protest in the winter of 2017-2018. At least 25 people were killed in riots that affected dozens of Iranian cities between 28 December 2017 and 3 January 2018. Tehran had described as “sedition” this protest movement against the high cost of living that quickly took a political turn of protest against the Iranian regime.  Rouhollah Zam lived in exile in France for several years before being arrested by the Guardians of the Revolution, the ideological army of the Islamic Republic, illegally according to Afp. His arrest had been announced in October 2019, but Iran did not specify the place or date of the events, accusing the 40-year-old opponent of being led by French intelligence and supported by the U.S. and Israeli secret services.

It time actually to calm down this terrorist regime “managed” by paranoid and corrupted mullahs only seeking to put the whole World on fire !
