Turkey takes charge of NATO high readiness force

Turkey is taking over command of NATO’s Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) on the first day of the new year, NATO statement. Some 4,200 soldiers in Turkey’s 66th Mechanised Infantry Brigade Command will be stationed as part of the VJTF under the NATO Response Force, which will have 6,400 personnel on duty together with the addition of soldiers from Albania, Hungary, Italy, Letonia, Monte Negro, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Britain and the United States.
