Clashes broke out early Saturday morning in Datu Paglas municipality in Magindanao, Philippines, between government forces and Islamic State-affiliated militants from the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF). About 100 BIFF jihadists have occupied the local city market, according to preliminary data, to replenish food supplies. After brief clashes, the BIFF fighters retreated and split into small groups.
