China to Modernize Three Air Bases Closest to Taiwan

The modernization of the Chinese air force bases in Longtian, Huian and Zhangzhou, all of which are between 200 and 400 kilometers from Taiwan, provides them with a strengthened forward presence near the Taiwan Strait.   Thus, at the Longtian airbase, new ammunition storage facilities, barracks, administrative buildings and arched shelters for aircraft are being erected, and the runway and aprons are also slightly expanding.
