U.S. lawmakers who played an instrumental role in expelling Turkey from a program to buy F-35 fighter jets after it took delivery of Russian missiles may approve Ankara’s request to purchase F-16s.
In an interviews, the lawmakers have cautiously signaled that they could be inclined to allow Turkey to purchase the aircraft after the State Department said such a sale could serve U.S. and NATO security interests.
