Joe Biden has said his country would use force to defend Taiwan, if the need arises. “That’s the commitment we made,” Biden said at a joint news conference with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida following negotiations in Tokyo between the two, when asked by a reporter if the US would defend Taiwan if necessary.
