Special Counsel Jack Smith Asks for Jan. 2 Trial Date in Trump Election Case

Special counsel Jack Smith has proposed Jan. 2, 2024, as the date to start President Donald Trump’s trial in the case involving his efforts to reverse the results of the 2020 election. Jury selection would start as early as Dec. 11, based on the proposed schedule.
