The trigger for the aggravation of the situation was unrest in the Euphrates in the part of the province of Deir ez-Zor controlled by the “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF). The Arab tribes living there rebelled against the Kurds who came to these territories in 2017 and are considered outsiders there.
