Dec. 9th, Situation in Syria: Israeli Forces in the Buffer Zone, Functioning of Russian Bases

After the conclusion of a long and bloody civil war in Syria, a new conflict with entirely different participants has emerged.

The Turks and pro-Turkish proxies are advancing from the north, while in the east, the US and its allies have secured control over key gas and oil fields. Meanwhile, Israel is making advances from the south. Russia continues its Special Military Operation in Ukraine, with a significant breakthrough in the Pokrovsk area. 

The Syrian armed opposition now fully controls the Latakia Governorate, where Russian military bases are located, a source in the Syrian province reported. He also stressed that the opposition has not invaded the Russian bases in Tartus and Khmeimim.

Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces overnight gained control of more territories in the buffer zone on the border with Syria, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said.
