• Protests erupted in Abdanan in Ilam province, where residents chanted anti-government slogans ahead of 40th-day memorials for slain protesters.
• US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee expressed doubt that renewed nuclear talks with Iran would prevent eventual military action.
• Residents in several Iranian cities chanted anti-government slogans, including “Death to Khamenei” and “This is the final battle, Pahlavi will return,” from their homes on Sunday evening for a second consecutive night, following a call for chants by Iran’s exiled prince Reza Pahlavi.
• US President Donald Trump told Netanyahu during a December meeting at Mar-a-Lago that he would support Israeli strikes on Iran’s ballistic missile program if nuclear talks between Washington and Tehran failed, CBS News reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
• Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu outlined conditions for any Iran deal, including removal of enriched uranium, dismantling enrichment infrastructure, curbs on ballistic missiles and allied regional groups. He cited a 300 km missile limit and called for strict inspections.
• Iran signaled limited openness in nuclear talks, saying it is ready to discuss steps on its highly enriched uranium stockpile in exchange for sanctions relief, but ruled out zero enrichment. Indirect talks with the United States are set to continue this week in Geneva.
