Day #52 – In Brief
- After a round of US-Iran nuclear talks in Geneva, reports pointed to a mounting US military buildup and warnings from Israeli officials that a broader confrontation could unfold within days if diplomacy breaks down.
- US Vice President JD Vance says Iran is not yet willing to acknowledge some of President Donald Trump’s red lines following the latest round of negotiations in Geneva on Tuesday.
- Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said talks with the United States had made good progress on Tuesday, with both sides agreeing on guiding principles to begin drafting a possible agreement, though he cautioned that reaching a deal would be difficult and not imminent.
- IRGC-affiliated media said parts of the Strait of Hormuz would close for several hours during a naval drill, as the Guards’ navy commander said his forces could shut the waterway “in the shortest possible time” if ordered.
This is a developing story that HO1 will continue to monitor.
