Day #56 – In Brief

• The United States and Iran are due to resume talks in Geneva on Thursday, Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi said.
• A senior Iranian official told Reuters that indirect talks with the United States could yield an interim deal in early March, saying Tehran may consider exporting part of its highly enriched uranium stockpile or diluting it, but insisting its right to enrichment under the NPT must be recognized.
• Iran’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday it would take reciprocal measures against the navies and air forces of European Union member states following a decision by the bloc to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.
• More than 40 days after the mass killing of protesters in Iran, students held large rallies on Saturday in Tehran and Mashhad, chanting pro-monarchy and anti-Khamenei slogans.
