• Missiles were launched from Iran toward Israel a short time ago and defense systems are operating to intercept the threat, the Israeli military said in a statement.
• US bases and and Israeli assets in the region have become “legitimate targets,” Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said in a post on X on Sunday.
• US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he did not plan to withdraw US troops from the region, telling NBC News that “I think we’ll keep them there until such time as we have a completion.”
• Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson told CNN that Tehran and Washington were still exchanging messages through Pakistani mediators, but accused the United States of making negotiations difficult with shifting demands.
• US Central Command (CENTCOM) said American forces in the Middle East shot down two Iranian one-way attack drones earlier on Saturday that it said threatened international maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
• Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is carrying a special message from Field Marshal General Asim Munir to Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei during his visit to Tehran, Iran’s semi-official ISNA news agency reported.
• The IRGC said it stopped one tanker trying to leave Hormuz after warning four vessels, while CENTCOM denied Iranian claims of damage to the US Fifth Fleet site in Bahrain.
