In Brief…

  • US Central Command said American forces resumed a naval blockade against vessels transiting to and from Iranian ports and coastal areas at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, adding that more than 20 US Navy warships and hundreds of military aircraft are operating across the Middle East.
  • Explosions and reported missile impacts were heard across southern and southeastern Iran, including around Konarak, Chabahar, Dashtiari and Bandar Abbas, while reports concerning Qeshm and Larak remained disputed by Iranian state media.
  • US President Donald Trump formally notified Congress that hostilities had resumed in Iran, saying American forces carried out “defensive strikes against targets within Iran” on July 7.
  • Iran’s joint military command said it would not allow the United States to interfere in the management of the Strait of Hormuz and warned of a forceful response to any disruption of commercial shipping.

This is a developing story that HO1 will continue to monitor.
