One official described the progress made in the mediation efforts as “significant.”
- US President Donald Trump said he paused US strikes on Iran to give negotiations another chance but was prepared to resume expanded military operations if diplomacy failed, Axios reported on Monday. He said, however, the time is limited for Iran.
- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that Iran would top the agenda in his talks with US President Donald Trump in Washington.
- The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman said on Monday that a Ukrainian attack on an Iranian vessel would not go unanswered, describing it as illegal and “dangerous adventurism.”
- Iran’s army said on Monday that it remained on high alert alongside other armed forces and would respond more forcefully to any further US strikes.
- US President Donald Trump was giving talks with Iran “some space,” US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz told Fox News on Sunday.
- China is coordinating with Pakistan to resume dialogue between the United States and Iran, reduce tensions and pave the way for broader negotiations over sanctions, Al Arabiya reported, citing a source.
- Iran’s Oil Ministry said on Saturday that the country generated more than $11 billion in oil sales during the first four months of the Iranian year, despite continued US sanctions
