US blockade could cost Iran $18 billion a year, business chief says US maritime blockade could add about $18 billion annually to the Iran’s trade costs, the head of the Iran-China Chamber of Commerce said on Tuesday, warning against trying to adapt to it as Tehran did with sanctions. Majidreza Hariri said transporting a container from China to Iran costs about $3,000 by sea, compared with an average of $12,000 over land.
