• The United States is preparing to rotate the USS George Washington into the Middle East as Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said Washington could maintain its naval blockade on Iran indefinitely by cycling ships in and out of the region.
• A spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said on Thursday that “no commercial ship or oil tanker” could safely pass through the Strait of Hormuz without Iran’s permission and oversight, after US President Donald Trump said Washington had “total” control of the waterway.
• Iran’s Persian Gulf Strait Authority said on Wednesday the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked despite repeated announcements by US officials that the key waterway has reopened, adding that it will not be opened until Iran’s conditions are accepted.
• Private shipping data undercounts oil and oil-product shipments through the Strait of Hormuz because some vessels are moving covertly through the waterway, US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said.
• Three Pakistani nationals were killed and another was injured in a Houthi attack on a commercial vessel in the Red Sea, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Wednesday.
