IN THE MEANTIME, WE’RE STILL BUYING RUSSIAN GAS This is the part that directly concerns the wallet. In 2025, France imported 86.2 terawatt-hours of Russian gas, solely in the form of LNG. This represented 17% of French gas imports, behind Norway with 36% and the United States with 31%. Part of this gas is then re-exported to our neighbors, so 17% of imports does not mean 17% of French household consumption. But 86.2 terawatt-hours remains a significant amount to replace if everything stops abruptly. France could buy more elsewhere, but if several European countries are looking for the same shipments…
