Israeli army says it struck 150 Hamas targets in Gaza

The Israeli military attacked 150 Hamas sites on the territory of the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, the press service of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported.

“A total of approximately 150 terror targets were struck by IDF troops over the last day,” the statement said. The press service pointed out that “IDF ground, air, and naval troops are continuing to operate against the Hamas terrorist organization” in the Palestinian enclave. “During operational activity in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, IDF ground troops directed IAF aircraft to strike and eliminate more than 10 terrorists,” the military added. The press service also said that “the ground troops uncovered more than 15 underground tunnel shafts” in the Maghazi refugee camp in the central part of the enclave, and “during targeted raids on military sites in the area,” – “destroyed a machine used for manufacturing rockets.”

Amid mounting tensions on the Israeli-Lebanese border, the Israeli Health Ministry instructed the country’s hospitals to prepare for accepting thousands of wounded, the state-run Kan broadcaster said. Health Ministry Director General Moshe Bar Siman Tov informed all hospitals that they should get ready to switch, if necessary, to emergency working patterns within 24 hours after receiving relevant instructions. This implies transfer of all medical personnel and patients to protected areas, immediate discharge of all patients with mild symptoms and preparedness to treat a large number of wounded.

Besides, major hospitals in the cities of Nahariya and Safed in the country’s north were told to prepare to work in total isolation, without the possibility of receiving the necessary equipment, medicines and food, and also to get ready for accepting a large number of wounded and organizing their transfer to other facilities, Kan said.
