Day #18 – In Brief
- The United Nations Security Council will convene at 3 pm, Thursday, to hold a briefing on the situation in Iran requested by the United States, according to the UN.
- US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he had been told the killings in Iran had stopped, a remark widely seen as conciliatory. However, regional military deployments, evacuation reports, and comments by Western officials point to an “imminent” attack.
- Iran has issued a new NOTAM closing its airspace to all flights, allowing only international civil arrivals and departures with prior authorization from the country’s civil aviation authority.
- Iranian authorities have significantly expanded the presence of security forces across multiple cities, tightening control to prevent further protests in what some residents inside Iran described as a ‘de facto curfew.’
- Iran’s Revolutionary Guards chief Mohammad Pakpour said the country’s armed forces were at a high level of readiness and warned of a decisive response to any “miscalculation by the enemy.”
This is a developing story that HO1 will continue to monitor.
