A US strike could happen in the next 36 hours. Negotiations are unlikely to succeed because Iran will never bring uranium enrichment to zero. In the last 24 hours, the US military buildup in the region has been ramping up rapidly, with troops, aircraft, and naval assets moving into position.

• US Vice-President JD Vance said on Monday that Tehran’s brutal crackdown on protesters has “already very much been part of the negotiations that we’ve had” and “I’m sure that will continue.”
• Several prominent politicians from the reformist camp including Azar Mansouri, Javad Shakouri-Rad, Javad Emam, and Hossein Karroubi have been arrested over the past few days.
• Ali Larijani, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, will visit Oman on Tuesday, state media reported, days after Tehran and Washington held nuclear talks in Muscat.
• Iran’s Khamenei released a video on Monday urging turnout for Feb. 11 Islamic Revolution rallies, a day after he skipped his annual meeting with air force commanders.
