In Brief…

  • The Trump administration is looking to restart Project Freedom, its operation to guide commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz, as early as this week, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, as Saudi Arabia and Kuwait lifted their restrictions on the US military access to their bases.
  • Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said he held a lengthy meeting with Mojtaba Khamenei, who has not been seen publicly since the strikes that killed his father.
  • US President Donald Trump said Iran is “militarily defeated” but may not recognize it, adding that he believes Tehran ultimately understands its position as he deals directly with its leadership.
  • US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen to all shipping if Iran accepts a proposed agreement, warning that otherwise US bombing would resume at greater intensity.
  • Iran’s Revolutionary Guards navy said safe and stable passage through the Strait of Hormuz would be ensured after what it described as the neutralization of “aggressor threats” and the introduction of new maritime protocols.

This is a developing story that HO1 will continue to monitor.
