U.S. imposes sanctions on several Iranian entities and individuals

The U.S. on Thursday September 17th, 2020 imposed sanctions on 45 individuals and two entities linked to Iran’s intelligence and security ministry. Treasury Sanctions Cyber Actors Backed by Iranian Intelligence Ministry The Treasury claimed the companies — called Advanced Persistent Threat 39 and Rana Intelligence Computing Company (Rana) — are owned or controlled by Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS). The Treasury said the 45 individuals were employees at Rana. The 45 designated individuals had worked as managers, programmers, and hacking experts while employed by Rana.
