Turkey, Greece to resume exploratory talks to discuss continental shelves

Turkish and Greek military delegations are expected to resume technical exploratory talks on territorial claims at NATO headquarters next week, Turkish state-run Anadolu news agency reported on Friday. The NATO- brokered talks to discuss maritime disputes in eastern Mediterranean was suspended as Greece’s withdrawal due to Turkey’s redeployment of its seismic research vessel Oruç Reis for hydrocarbon exploration in the region in October. Technical talks between Turkey and Greece were launched last year, following a phone call between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in early September, resulting in the Turkish and Greek military delegations agreeing on general principles, Anadolu said.
