Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an often disabling condition consisting of recurrent, bothersome, and intrusive thoughts, urges, or images that cause feelings of discomfort. To reduce the anxiety and distress associated with these thoughts, the patient may employ certain compulsions or rituals.
