Israel attacked a strategically important Iranian military complex in Syria
Over night, the Israeli Air Force planes attacked a number of positions and sites of Iran and Hezbollah in Syrian territory near the border with Lebanon, and among other things, targets were attacked in the area of Al-Naziria Airport in the eastern Syrian Kalmon region.
Iran uses Al-Nasiriya airfield, located 10 km northeast of the city of Jirod in eastern Kalmon, for secret military purposes related to the production of missiles. A private military source, who wished to remain anonymous, reported a long time ago that the Syrian regime granted broad powers to Iran to allow its experts to supervise the preparation of new missile depots in the area stretching between the cities of Al-Katifa and Al-Ansiriya for the storage, production, development and maintenance of missiles there.
Already in 2019, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards secretly transferred shipments of missiles and equipment for their production, from various (Iranian) sites and points located in the vicinity of the Damascus International Airport, to the Al-Naziriya military base, using planes that took off from the Almaza military airport in the Damascus area – according to a Syrian military source. The same source stated that Iran is working to utilize the air base in Alanceria as an alternative to its main bases that had to be abandoned in the vicinity of Damascus International Airport, as a result of the heavy losses it suffered as a result of incessant Israeli airstrikes on those bases.
