Israeli army to do everything to free hostages, says spokesperson
The Israel Defense Force (IDF) pledged that it would do everything to bring back the hostages still being held by the Palestinian radical movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip in every way, the Israeli army spokesperson, Daniel Hagari, said.
“We will continue to do everything to bring back the hostages,” Hagari said. According to him, Hamas still holds 137 hostages who were abducted in the Gaza Strip on October 7. “They are constantly on our minds. We continue to invest significant efforts in intelligence and operational fronts, to bring information about the condition of the hostages,” Hagari said.
Meanwhile, IDF has called on residents of the Palestinian town of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip to evacuate to the outskirts of the town of Rafah on the border with Egypt, army spokesman Avihai Edri said.
“Residents of the Gaza Strip, the IDF has resumed active hostilities against Hamas and other terrorist organizations in the enclave. In order to ensure your safety, we ask the residents of districts 36, 38-64 and 219-221 (according to the new December 1 division of Gaza into districts, this is the area of Khan Younis) to go to the resettlement sites for internally displaced persons, which are located in al-Shaboura, al-Fukhari, al-Zuhur and Tel al-Sultan (in and around Rafah),” Edri wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) page.
