[UPDATE] Second Round of France’s Snap Parliamentary Election

0

French left-wing alliance is projected to beat the right-wing (RN) in the second round of France’s snap parliamentary election

The right-wing National Rally (RN) party took the lead in the first round, with the left-wing New Popular Front (NFP) coalition in second and President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist Ensemble alliance in a dismal third.

Since then, more than 200 centrist and left-wing candidates withdrew from the second round in a bid to avoid splitting the vote and to prevent the far right from winning the 289 seats needed for an absolute majority. Already today, voters have turned out in numbers across the country.

This is a developing story that HO1 will continue to monitor.
