Turkey “pushes” Macron to allow purchase of air missile systems

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoggan is trying to purchase European-made air defence missiles and approached his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron to drop his opposition to Turkey’s co-production of Eurosam’s SAMP/T systems, officials told Bloomberg on Friday September 25th. Turkey has been seeking to buy air defense missiles, and the SAMP/T, produced jointly by France and Italy, is a NATO interoperable system and an alternative to the Russian-made S- 400, a system Ankara has purchased but the Western military alliance fears would compromise its defense network.
