Athens to ratify Rafale , sea zones deal before Jan 20

At light of the imminent resumption of exploratory contacts with Turkey, the Greek government is reportedly seeking to ratify the all-important bills for the purchase of 18 French Rafale-type jets and the extension of its maritime zones in the Ionian Sea before Biden inauguration on Jan 20. The bill for the extension of Greece’s coastal zone from 6 to 12 nautical miles from the island of Corfu to Cape Tainaro in the Peloponnese was tabled on Friday and a plenary vote is expected on Jan. 19.
